Super Space Sheriff Gavan Infinity Episode 1: The Clerical Department That Saved the Multiverse

After a long wait, "Super Space Sheriff Gavan Infinity" has finally premiered! The show hits the ground running, packing a massive amount of lore into just the first 20 seconds. The story kicks off in a future where humans and aliens coexist in harmony. However, when extraterrestrial criminals begin causing chaos, the Space Sheriffs must step in.

Enter our protagonist, Reiji Doki. On the surface, he belongs to the Clerical Department—the lowest-ranking office in a taxpayer-funded police force, often mocked by fellow officers. But in reality, this department is a secret special task force responsible for safeguarding the entire Multiverse! Let’s dive in and see what exciting highlights await in Episode 1 of Super Space Sheriff Gavan Infinity

The story opens with a scene designed to sell toys—I mean, an epic battle between various colored Space Sheriffs piloting their mechas against a massive villain force. This turns out to be a vision of a future yet to come. The narrative then shifts to Reiji, a young officer from the Clerical Department. He is on a secret mission to investigate mysterious capsules known as 'Emo-Gears,' which embody different emotions and grant negative powers to their users. Reiji’s own Emo-Gear represents 'Anger,' which he uses in tandem with his transformation device to suit up as Gavan Infinity in a mere fraction of a second

Next, the story introduces the various universal dimensions known as 'Cosmo-Layers'—parallel worlds where another version of ourselves exists, yet many things differ, and each world follows its own timeline. Reiji and his special clerical police unit are tasked with ensuring these worlds don't spiral out of control. The root cause of the chaos is the 'Emo-Gear,' an anomaly found across the multiverse. If used beyond control, it could lead to the collapse of the entire multiverse, forcing the special task force to intervene. Reiji’s mission takes him to Parallel World A8018, which is currently emitting waves toward Dimension Theta-4607, requiring him to cross dimensions and take action

Before Reiji leaps through dimensions, a flashback reveals the tragic death of someone deeply important to him. This trauma appears to be the catalyst for his connection to the Emo-Gear of Anger. During combat, as Gavan Infinity unleashes his power, we catch glimpses of a furious expression manifested through his mask. It serves as a stark contrast: while the exterior mask appears bright, smiling, and empathetic, Reiji’s inner heart is consumed by a hidden, simmering rage. This internal darkness is precisely what allows him to harness the full potential of the Anger Emo-Gear—a mystery that will surely unfold in future episodes.

As for the story after he crosses dimensions, it follows a more straightforward path. The villain incites a riot, prompting the police to move in and suppress Gavan Infinity. Our hero battles the antagonists while delivering a series of cool, inspiring speeches that eventually cause the villains to have a change of heart. Finally, a monster emerges from the Emo-Gear; Gavan Infinity defeats it, emerging victorious as the episode draws to a close

Once the monster is defeated, Reiji encounters Aikokuin Setsuna, the local Police Chief of this dimension. Setsuna is remarkably passive—ignoring his subordinates' pleas for backup and simply standing by to watch the chaos, only stepping in to make arrests once the dust has settled.

A fascinating detail emerges here: Reiji and the Space Sheriffs from Multiverse A0073 appear to be the only ones capable of inter-dimensional travel. We see this when Reiji mutters, 'Not again,' noting how the locals are always shocked to see Gavan. The episode reaches its climax as Aikokuin Setsuna transforms into Gavan Bushido and prepares for battle. The premiere ends on this note, leaving us to wonder who Gavan Bushido really is and what role he will play in the future. We’ll have to wait until next week to find out!
